WHAT: Full-Figured Fashion Week WHEN: June 16-19, 2010 WHERE: Park Central Hotel, New York City WHY: Former model and fashion show producer Gwen Devoe paid homage to the “curvy community” by presenting the second annual FFF Week which offered panel discussions, shopping excursions, a model contest, awards presentation and runway shows featuring 25 plus-size designers to fans and retailers. STANDOUTS: Stylist/costume designer-turned-fashion designer Jewel Shannon’s St.Tropez-inspired cruise collection in ocean blue and gold, Monif C’s swimwear, Igigi’s sneak peek at fall and celebrity stylist Susan Moses (who has worked with Queen Latifah and Gabourey Sidibe, to name a few) aptly-titled show stopping collection of all black and silver rock-n-roll line of plunging necklines with cinched waist looks is sure to be coveted by downtown curvalinas. This new direction of plus-size fashion indicated caftans to hide your curves are a thing of the past.
