Black Lives Matter protestors in Minneapolis were shot last night according to the Star Tribune.
Five protestors sustained non-life threatening injuries and were treated at a local hospital.
A media contact for the Black Lives Matter movement in Minneapolis, Miski Noor, said, “a group of white supremacists showed up at the protest, as they have done most nights.”
Protestors gathered near the Minneapolis Police 4th Precinct following the shooting death of 24-year-old Jamar Clark.
Clark was shot and killed by a police officer last week in which the officer was responding to a 911 call that Clark was assaulting his girlfriend.
Eyewitness reports claim that Clark was handcuffed at the time of the shooting although police have not yet released any video recordings of the incident.
A statement from Clark’s family has asked that protestors end the “occupation of the 4th precinct” for their own safety but extended gratitude as they are thankful to “the community for the incredible support you have shown for our family in this difficult time. We appreciate Black Lives Matter for holding it down and keeping the protests peaceful.”
