This weekend was full of SMH moments and WTF thought bubbles.
Although many used the holiday to reflect on and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., others used it to evaluate how far we’ve come (or not come) regarding some recent headlines.
Madonna was slammed on Instagram for using the N-word as a “term of endearment” towards her son, Rocco. Although she apologized, it just wasn’t enough for her critics.
Russian Editor-In-Chief Dasha Zhukova (of Garage) ruffled some feathers when she used a “Black woman” chair as a prop for a questionable editorial in Buro 247.
Controversial politician Sarah Palin celebrated MLK Day by sending a zinger toward President Obama. “Mr. President, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and all who commit to ending any racial divide, no more playing the race card,” she said. Many thought her comments was unnecessary and tasteless.
And of course, folks are still reeling over Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman’s colorful post-game “rant.” Since then, he’s been called everything from a “monster” to a “thug.”
The weekend’s events left us shaking our heads, giving side-eyes and more. What WTF moment are you still talking about?
