Trolls. We’ve all come across their unnecessarily mean comments and wondered, “who hurt you?” Jimmy Kimmel has even been able to make a “Mean Tweets’ segment on his late night show that gives celebrities a chance to flip the script on them, but behind the laughs lies a serious issue.
According to the Washington Post, Twitter is taking a stand and has released new regulations that restrict certain tweets in an effort to stop abusive behavior towards users.
The new announcement addressed abusive behavior saying, “We do not tolerate behavior that crosses the line into abuse, including behavior that harasses, intimidates, or uses fear to silence another user’s voice.”
A recent hashtag, #MyTroll, confirmed the need for the regulations and let women from all walks of life reveal horror stories about being bullied, harassed and targeted online. Countless women came out and spoke up about what they endured, showing that there are the issue is more common than not.
