Many of us are still trying to keep our “get more sleep” resolutions, but new research shows adding naps to your day may not be the way to go.

According to a study published yesterday in the Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), unusual sleep patterns, particularly sleeping during the day and staying up late at night, disrupt the activity of your genes.

The research has worrisome implications for shift workers, business travelers, college students, and sleep-deprived workers of all kind, who often nap or sleep during the day to make up for working late into the night. And a recent poll by the National Sleep Foundation shows that 43 percent of Americans between the ages of 13 and 64 rarely or never get a full night’s sleep during the work and school week.

We want to know how true this is for you. Do you think you get enough sleep?
