Dear ESSENCE Family,
This week both Essence.com and ESSENCE magazine are unveiling two new and exciting makeovers in celebration of the brand’s 44th anniversary May issue! On the website, you will notice the revamped homepage features larger, bolder images and more content up top, which includes placing our exclusive videos in the spotlight. You’ll find the premiere of Essence’s new Life channel online, which covers all of those subjects—health and wellness, money and careers, news and viewpoints—that you’ve told us you want to see more of on our site. You’ll also notice that we’re bringing more of your thoughts and opinions centerstage via our social platforms, including our Essence Instagram and our daily @Essence_Debates Twitter feeds.
But that’s not all I’m excited to be sharing with you. Our May issue of the magazine features a three-way split cover celebrating three breathtaking beauties who are influencing music, style and pop culture—Ledisi, Solange and Erykah Badu. And inside we’ve launched a design refresh, the first we’ve had in 5 years; you’ll find bolder fonts and images, and a new layout of the monthly sections. Our intent with both refresh moves was to make the brand more vibrant, interactive and accessible, no matter which platform you prefer. And we hope you like what you see!
