As parents struggle to make ends meet, more students are taking advantage of free or low-cost breakfast and lunch, according to CNN.com. A report released Thursday titled “Saved By the Lunch Bell: As Economy Sinks School Program Participation Rises” included comments from nutritionists who say about 425,000 more kids are participating in the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program in 2008-2009 than in the previous school year.
