Revolt TV’s State of the Culture is getting a new host. The music television network, founded by ESSENCE Magazine’s May cover star Sean “Diddy” Combs, announced on a Thursday that TV personality, Eboni K. Williams will be joining Joe Budden, Remy Ma, and Jinx on the popular program.

“Joining REVOLT is an opportunity for me to impact the culture at a critical time. It’s extremely important for me to have a platform where I can empower people and continue breaking down controversial issues in a valuable and useful way,” said Eboni K. Williams in a release.

The author of Pretty Powerful: Appearance, Substance, and Success was the former host of Fox News’ Fox News Specialists and a regular contributor to Fox Sports. In 2018, ESSENCE recognized the former pageant queen as a Woke 100 woman, helping to push the culture forward. In her new role on Revolt, Williams will be joining her co-hosts in discussing some of the most pressing topics facing the Black community through the lens of hip-hop.

“In this news cycle, we can’t avoid the tough topics and need to come at them with a critical eye,” Williams said. “The team I’m joining is known for its no holds barred approach and I’m thrilled to have a seat at the table.”

Those familiar with Williams career can expect her to bring an intelligent voice to wide-ranging topics from the criminal justice system to politics. In a 2017 interview with ESSENCE, the former trial lawyer shared that her journey from attorney to media commentator has been an unconventional ride that has taken her through a number of trials.

“I spent a year just doing the L.A. hustle. I went from trying cases in North Carolina for seven years to waitressing to being a bottle service girl at night and auditioning during the day for various film and commercial projects,” Williams shared. “I found it unsatisfying because I missed the intellectual rigor of trial work. So that’s when I told myself, I gotta figure something out. It was 2011 and the country was gearing up for the 2012 Obama reelection. A friend suggested that I consider being a talking head because I’ve always been a bit of a political junkie.”

Robyn Lattaker-Johnson, Head of Content and Development at Revolt, welcomed Williams in a statement saying, “We’re beyond excited to have Eboni join the REVOLT family. Her diverse and esteemed background allows for a contemporary perspective that will be a welcomed addition to the ‘State of the Culture’ trio who are known to hold no punches when going in on the topics at hand.”

Williams is scheduled to appear on State of the Culture starting on September 9th.
