Gospel great Donnie McClurkin is his brother’s keeper. When asked what he thought of the domestic abuse allegations made against Grammy award-winning gospel legend Bebe Winans by his ex-wife Debbie on Feb. 14, he only had words of love and encouragement.
“He is my brother and my friend and has my support,” says McClurkin, pastor of the Perfecting Faith Church in Long Island, New York, who releases his new album, We All. “I’m praying for him as well as his ex-wife Debbie. Let’s leave this for God and the courts to handle . It’s been a circus but let’s hold back judgement.”
Winans, the host of BET’s gospel competition, “Sunday Best,” was arrested and released following his ex-wife’s allegations that a verbal disagreement over their children escalated in physical violence when he pushed her down to the ground. Winans and his attorney have released statements vehemently denying the allegations and declaring his innocence.
