Lou Myers, best known for playing Mr. Vernon Gaines in A Different World, died reports TMZ. He was 77.
The actor passed away in West Virginia last night at Charleston Medical Center after suffering a number of health setbacks in recent weeks.
In December, Myers was hospitalized for pneumonia and was released after New Year’s. Sadly, Myers collapsed at his home a few weeks later and was hospitalized yet again. His heart reportedly stopped yesterday and doctors were able to revive him. However, Myers fell into a coma and died some time later.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine an exact cause of death.
During the course of Myer’s 37-year-career, he appeared on The Cosby Show, Living Single, How Stella Got Her Groove Back and several episodes of All About the Andersons. According to IMDB, Myers’ final film, Dreams, was released on February 1.
Myers is survived by his son and 95-year-old mother.
