Tonight Damien Wayans and Connie Britton will be in perfect harmony as they cohost the first New York City fundraising event for the African Children’s Choir, which will feature a cocktail reception, live auction, raffle and dancing.
Since 1984, the African Children’s Choir and its parent organization, Music for Life, has worked to raise awareness of the plight of the orphaned and abandoned while still showing the beauty, dignity and potential of each African child. The ACC has performed with and for such iconic stars as Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Paul McCartney, Wyclef Jean, Mariah Carey and Bono, with special performances at The White House, Live8 in London, the United Nations “Somalia Cry’ exhibit in New York, and Nelson Mandela’s 46664 Concert.
Proceeds from the gala will support the new African Children’s Choir Primary School, a 12-acre campus on the shores of Lake Victoria in Entebbe, Uganda.—KNB
