A father of a 5-year-old Milwaukee boy has been charged will tragically killing the child for eating his Father’s Day cheesecake.
Travis Stackhouse has been charged with reckless homicide for allegedly fatally assaulting his son, Sir, after admitting to hitting the child.
Stackhouse initially lied that Sir had fallen down the stairs earlier this month and sustained a laceration on his sternum, three cuts on his back, a cut on his lip and a bruising both eyes, according to Fox 6 Now.
Police found his statement dubious, especially following an investigation and autopsy. Stackhouse eventually admitted to punching his son in the face and stomach. Witness statements from his other children confirmed Stackhouse had hit Sir.
Sir’s mother, and Stackhouse’s girlfriend, had been out of the house during the incident. She was the one who eventually called 911 at 3 a.m. the following morning, after noticing something was wrong.
Officials pronounced Sir dead at the scene. An autopsy later showed that Sir suffered blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
Stackhouse is being held on a $25,000 bond at the Milwaukee County Jail and faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
