Congresswoman Maxine Waters is setting the record straight about her mixing politics with family interests. At a federal meeting to discuss the claim that she asked for a meeting with the Treasury Department to broker $50 million in bailout funds for a bank on which her husband sits on the board, according to Politico.com. Former President George W. Bush’s former Treasury advisers say that Waters requested the meeting and never disclosed her husband’s affiliation. Waters says that’s simply just not true. She asserts that she called the meeting to bring attention to Black banks and the National Bankers Association, but not for personal interests.—CJ
