• Tamera Mowry-Housley appeared on Friday’s episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now? and she opened up about being bullied over her interracial marriage. “It’s hurtful, because my husband (Adam Housley) and I are so openly fine with showing love, but people choose to look past love and spew hate,” said the actress. “That’s what hurts me because I’ve never experienced so much hate in my life.” Tamera and her twin sister Tia grew up in a biracial home and she says they never saw race but only family. “My mom is a beautiful Black woman and my dad is an amazing white man, and I grew up seeing a family. • Michelle Obama’s ruby-red Jason Wu 2013 inaugural gown and Jimmy Choo shoes will be displayed at the Smithsonian Institute for a year. The dress will be shown as part of the museum’s 100th anniversary first lady exhibition. Traditionally, second inaugural gowns go straight to the presidential library, but curators hope to give museums goers new opportunities to see the gowns. [USA Today]
• Director Lee Daniels says he’s honored to receive a NAACP Image nomination for his work on the historical drama, The Butler. “The importance of being nominated by the NAACP on this particular film touches my very soul,” said Daniels. “I did the best I could to teach but not preach.
