Check out why we’re having donuts with our brew:
• Shonda Rhimes has a message for all the single men and women out there who were sad on Valentine’s Day, “F*ck Valentine’s Day.” That’s her message. In a post on her website, she declared there’s nothing wrong with being single. She also urged readers not to buy into the holiday created by greeting card companies. “You don’t need cheering up,” she writes. “There is nothing wrong with you. You are perfect and awesome just like you are. You just happen to be listening to someone who says you aren’t. They are idiots. Ignore them.” She also reminded everyone she created the mega hit show Grey’s Anatomy while single. [Shondaland.com]
• Carmelo Anthony won’t be playing in Sunday’s All-Star game. The New York Knick suffered a potentially severe elbow injury during Wednesday’s game against Toronto. “As bad as I would want to play in the All-Star game, participate, if I can’t go, I can’t go,” said Anthony. “Nothing I can do about that.” [Grio]
• Chris Brown and Drake are suing in each other over their nightclub brawl last June, which injured several people including model Roman Jullien and NBA star Tony Parker. Jullien is suing both Brown and Drake for his injuries. Brown and Drake want the other to pay for Jullien’s, should he win. [TMZ]
• Emmett Till’s family is reacting to Lil Wayne’s “Karate Chop” song lyric comparing the murder of the 14-year-old boy in 1955 to a woman’s lower region in a reference to rough sex. In an interview, Till’s cousin Airickca Gordon-Taylor said, “It was a heinous murder… So to compare a woman’s anatomy—the gateway of life—to the ugly face of death, it just destroyed me.” Lil Wayne has yet to respond to the negative commentary [Grio]
