Sherri Shepherd is parting ways with The View. The actress/host released a statement saying, “It’s been seven wonderful years on The View. And after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.” Shepherd is said to have been in the re-negotiating stages prior to her decision. Tracey Edmonds has a new job as co-host of Extra. The film producer and reality star will join Mario Lopez and Charissa Thompson as the newest host. She debuts on September 8.

BET is reportedly eyeing a Chris Brown Reality series chronicling the singer’s life after jail. A focus group was held Tuesday in the San Fernando Valley of California asking participants if they would be into watching a show about Brown straying from drugs and staying on a straight path. BET is said to be in talks with several production companies to get the project off the ground. [TMZ]
Brooklyn, New York now has a “Do The Right Thing” day in honor of the classic Spike Lee film. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams designated June 30 as “Do the Right Thing Day” during a Borough Hall ceremony Tuesday. The movie was praised for its cultural significance. [BET]
