• During yesterday’s Oscars red-carpet telecast, Quvenzhané Wallis announced she’s going to play Annie in the Sony remake. Slated for a holiday 2014 release, the Black Women in Hollywood honoree will sing, dance and more in the classic film. “With the recent Academy Award nomination and critical acclaim, Quvenzhané Wallis is a true star, and we believe her portrayal as Annie will make her a true worldwide star,” said Columbia Pictures president of production Hannah Minghella. “She is an extraordinary young talent with an amazing range, not only as an actress but as a singer and dancer, and we can’t wait for audiences to further discover her.” The musical will be produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z among others. • First Lady Michelle Obama surprised many last night when she briefly appeared at the Oscars via video scream. Mrs. Obama, along with Jack Nicholson, presented the Academy Award for Best Picture to Argo. • Kobe Bryant made history last night in his winning game against the Dallas Mavericks. Bryant became the youngest player ever to earn 31,000 points at the age of 34. • It’s confirmed! Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are going on tour together. However, the duo will not perform at the usual venues, they are performing at stadiums only. Beginning on July 17 in Toronto, the duo will hit 12 stadiums before ending on August 16 in Miami. [Rollingstone]
