Boxing legend Muhammad Ali was hospitalized this weekend with a mild case of pneumonia. In a statement, Ali’s spokesman says “his prognosis is good with a short hospital stay expected.” The 72-year-old was admitted to hospital in an undisclosed location in Louisville, KY. [Huffington Post]

President Obama took the opportunity to highlight female journalists at his last press conference of the year. “The fact is, there are many women from a variety of news organizations who day-in and day-out do the hard work of covering the President of the United States,” said White House Press Secretary Zeke Miller. Australian rapper Iggy Azalea got a thorough lesson in Hip Hop 101, courtesy of Q-Tip. It all started, or should we say continued, when rapper Azealia Banks bemoaned how white artists, like Iggy, appropriates Black culture, during an interview on NYC’s Hot 97. Sidebar: Their Twitter beef is long, and epic, so grab the popcorn. Q-Tip jumped in on this latest conversation to give Iggy a few lessons in the socio-political origins of hip hop culture. It’s worth a read. [Vibe]

Erykah Badu, J.B. Smoove, and Tyler, The Creator will star in The Wizard of Watts, an animated musical on police brutality from Adult Swim series, Black Dynamite. The Wizard of Watts debuts Saturday, January 10th at 10:30PM ET/PT on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.

Laverne Cox got a holiday card from Beyoncé and did what anyone would do when they get a card from Mrs. Carter—she freaked out! “I literally fell to the floor,” wrote Cox on Instagram.
