•Kerry Washington just earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for her performance in the hit drama, Scandal. Washington received the nomination Thursday morning for the Lead Actress In a Drama Series category. This is the first Emmy nomination the 36-year-old actress has ever received and she plans to bring back the drama this fall as ABC recently revealed that season three of Scandal will premiere October 3. House of Lies star Don Cheadle is also in the runnings for the Lead Actor In A Comedy Series award. This will be 6th Emmy nomination the actor has received throughout his career. Alfre Woodard is also nominated for an Emmy for her performance in the Lifetime original. Her nomination falls in the Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie category. •Lebron James and Serena Williams’ talents were recognized at the ESPY Awards Wednesday night. The Miami Heat star received three awards including Male Athlete of the Year and he also took home awards in the championship performance and NBA player categories. James earned the awards over Miguel Cabrera of the Detriot Tigers, Minnesota Vickings running back Adrian Peterson and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelphs, who he gave a shout out to in his acceptance speech. “This is for all four of us, man, but I’m just keeping it at my house,” said James. Although absent from the ceremony due to a tournament in Sweden, Serena Williams also earned some winnings at last night’s ESPY awards. She won the award for Best Female Tennis Player and the Female Athlete of the Year award, beating out Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas and swimmer Missy Franklin and basketball star Brittney Griner.
