Check out what flavor brew we’ve got bubbling over:
• Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is jumping into Gospel music. The songwriter’s first single “Stay Prayed Up” is set to be released next week. She wrote on Facebook, “I knew when I decided to do it that I would be criticized. That’s to be expected. I’m a single mom that had a child out of wedlock, I speak openly about sex… The song is like a testimony for me. Hopefully people with a similar struggle can relate. I’m posting the lyrics to the hook. I’m looking forward to you hearing the whole song next week!” Check out the artwork she posted above. [Facebook]
• Are Bow Wow and Chris Brown planning to do a movie together? That’s what Bow Wow said in a recent interview. “Me and Chris are really close to working something out big for our first time hooking up together as far as film is concerned,” said Bow Wow. The film project is scheduled to release some time this summer. There’s no word on what the subject matter is. [Grio]
• On the one-year anniversary of Whitney Houston’s tragic death, Mary J. Blige is opening up saying Houston’s death helped her kick her alcohol habit. She told Los Angeles Confidential magazine, “I didn’t want to go to rehab. I believe that anything man himself can do for me, God can do in a greater way. I decided to pray and to seek God on my own. I just stayed in the Word. And it worked… Whitney Houston’s death really affected me. Her death is another reason I stopped. I really do think I’m done. I looked at how that woman could not perform anymore.” [LA Confidential]
• Phaedra Parks says she does not want a spin-off show. “I don’t want my mama suing me. I don’t want my parents disowning me because of a TV show,” she told Perez Hilton. “I don’t want to have to fight with my husband or my mama. First of all, everyone sees enough of our life already and it’s very invasive. You don’t have a lot of privacy just on being on the Housewives in general. There always has to be some drama.” [Perez Hilton]
