The newly solo gospel star is penning a page-turner for children about the realities of life. “One is called ‘Peanut Butter and Kelly.’ I just finished it and I’m super excited,” she told ESSENCE Festival. The “Help” singer says her goal is to help parents understand how much of a role they play in their children’s lives and being “aware that their children are paying attention.”

President Obama has signed on to headline Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network Convention which takes place in New York City, from April 9-12. The convention will focus on voting rights, health care, criminal justice and other civil rights issues. This will be President Obama’s second appearance at the annual gathering. [TheRoot]
