Check out why we’re going easy on the sugar today:
• Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s $40K per person fundraiser raised a reported $4M last night. One hundred people filled Jay-Z’s 40/40 club to meet and greet the President. Beyoncé took the stage and told the crowd, “I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama. We believe in his vision.” Obama, who arrived from tapping the Tonight Show with David Letterman, told the crowd, “Beyoncé couldn’t be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent.” He also told Jay-Z they have more in common than many would think, “We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard but it’s okay.” [Hollywood Reporter]
• Ratings over at OWN are picking up! The two-part debut of Iyanla Vanzant’s Fix My Life with Evelyn Lozada earned 2.5M viewers and was number one in African-American homes. It was the best series debut ever for the network. [Grio]
• Keyshia Cole says she wishes Mary J. Blige would have reached out to her and offered advice. “…We don’t have to be friends, but at the end of the day, being able to give advice or help somebody that is coming under you is an amazing gift to be able to have. I wish I would have had that from Mary, but I’m not Mary, I’m a different person and if K. Michelle ever calls me or anybody for that matter for advice, I would absolutely give it to them.” [Singersroom]
• NeNe Leakes says she’s nearly ready to leave The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The reality star turned actress said, “I love the acting world. So, at some point… I can’t continue to be a Housewife. At some point, I have to back out.” Leakes hopes to some day host her own talk show. “I would keep it real the whole hour,” she jokes. “Whatever the topic is, I feel I could talk about anything. Politic, men, money, shoes… anything.” [NY Post]
