Just like many other businesses, colleges and universities across the country now have to deal with the realities of cutting staff. Clark Atlanta University, one of the largest HBCU’s, had to cut 100 of its employees last week, blaming a decrease in enrollment as students opt not to return for their spring semester, according to the Associated Press. This marks the first group of layoffs since 2003 and officials say the school is not in any major financial distress. The school is now asking alumni to donate to help those students who are on financial aid.—WLW
