ESSENCE is celebrating Black Girl Magic in our special February issue. From design innovators to top models, these are the game-changers in the fashion industry to look for this year.

01
Recho Omondi

New York based designer Recho Omondi started her namesake label in 2013 and has been consistently gaining steam. Her modern and ethereal line debuted during New York Fashion Week in 2015 and has been on every fashion girl’s radar since.

Yasmin Wijnaldum

Yasmin Wijnaldum is brand spanking new on the modeling scene and she’s kicking it off with a Prada campaign. The new ad comes after a stand-out season for the 17-year-old in which she walked in a slew of luxury fashion shows. She’s definitely one to keep a look out for in 2016.

Lineisy Montero

2015 was a great year for Lineisy Montero who was one of the fresh faces that graced the cover of Teen Vogue, but we have a feeling that it’s only going to get better in the New Year. The 19-year-old walked a total of 68 shows throughout fashion season and Prada, Givenchy and Chanel. Werk!

Loza Maléombho

Designer Loza Maléombho is a girl on the move. Launching her line in New York in 2009, Maléombho decided to take her talents to Côte d’Ivoire in 2012. Her style is a mix between traditional culture and contemporary fashion. Her Maracana lace up sandals were caught on chic girls everywhere during the summer of 2015 and Vogue recently referred to her as one of the most stylish women in the world. Nice.

After moving to New York and booking a Givenchy campaign, Montana shot to the top of the modeling world. At 23-years-old she’s just getting started and is definitely a fresh face to look out for.

Aurora James is the owner of popular shoe brand Brother Vellies and an all-around fashion it-girl. She’s just won the coveted CFDA/Vogue fashion fund grant worth $300,000, so we’re pretty sure that she’s only headed up in 2016.
