The senseless killings of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and the police officers across the country have touched us all in real and personal ways.

Case in point, model Ajak Deng took to Instagram to share her own tense encounter with two white police officers.

The Sudanese model, who has been vocal about the lack of diversity within the fashion industry, posted a series of four Instagram videos sharing her feelings about how a night two years ago could have resulted in her death. Although she doesn’t get specific details on what happened that night, Deng did mention that a neighbor heard the commotion and started to film the encounter — chich ultimately defused the tension.

In addition, Deng called her agent to tell her what happened, which was sadly met with an inseinsitive and tone deaf response: “White people love black people — it’s all in your head. Relax. Breath. Let it go. We love you.”

The 26-year-old model has clearly been affected by the event as tearfully says she’s “heartbroken” about all the police brutlaity and what black people in America have to deal with.
