You know happily married new media power couple Ronnie and Lamar Tyler as the minds behind the award-winning advice site BlackandMarriedWithKids.com, but they’re making their mark in the documentary industry too. Their new documentary “Still Standing” examines and celebrates marriage and family in the Black community. The DVD will be released on May 1st, and we’ve got a sneak peak at what’s sure to be a positive look at the real state of Black marriage today – something so many films and TV programs lack today.
The new project includes conversations with the husband and wife that make up the popular neo-soul music duo, Kindred the Family Soul; “Speech” Thomas from the Grammy Award-winning group Arrested Development and wife Yolanda and nationally renowned psychologist, Dr. Sherry L. Blake.
Since premiering their first film, “Happily Ever After,” in 2009, the Tyler’s have established themselves as leading experts on marital relationships in America. In 2010 they released the documentary “You Saved Me,” a film that took an in-depth, emotional look into the trials, changes, and healing of eight Black married couples.
Promotional tour dates in Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington D.C. have been announced. You can visit WeStillStand.com for more information and to pre-order a copy of the DVD.
