Bishop T.D. Jakes is bringing his power house friends Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin and Dodie Osteen to help uplift and inspire women to become stronger leaders in their communities for his annual “Woman Thou Art Loosed” conference.
Included in the discussion will be a session called “Girl Talk” moderated by Jakes’ wife, Serita, where she will talk to women about health, relationships, spiritually and finances. However, the overall theme of this weekend’s conference is “Thankful Women” where women of all different backgrounds come together to celebrate one another.
Jakes has also reached out to women who have previously been incarcerated in an effort to help them transition back into their communities. Working with the Texas Offenders Re-entry Initiative (TORI), Bishop Jakes is offering these women attendance to the conference for no charge. There will be special classes for them to take that applies a spiritual and holistic approach to learning how to break cycles of substance abuse and domestic violence.
The event will take place at The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas from Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 15-17 2009.
