“Looking back over our relationship, I knew Mark was ‘The One’ at our college graduation,” says Jasmine. “Here I was sitting next to this guy who had seen me through my pivotal high school years and watched me grow throughout college. I knew I didn’t want to be without him.”
“My wedding dress was a Sophia Moncelli wedding gown exclusive to Kleinfeld Bridal Salon in New York,” says Jasmine. “It was a form fitting embellished mermaid gown with a corset back. After wedding dress hunting back home in Florida with my mother, and going to a few other bridal salons in New York, I still hadn’t found ‘The One.’ During my second time attending a Kleinfeld sample sale, I fell in love with this one.”
Jasmine awakened to breathtaking shore views on the morning of her wedding day. Absolutely beautiful!
These Badgley Mischka taupe pumps were just what the bride needed to step down the aisle in style.
There was no shortage of photo-perfect moments for the couple’s photographer to capture on their wedding day.
“After we graduated from college in 2010, we spent a year in a long distance relationship,” says Mark. “It was during this time that I realized that I was willing to stay committed. When we eventually ended up in the same city again, our relationship continue to grow and I knew then that she would be my wife.”
“I always knew I wanted a mermaid gown, so this dress was just perfect for me,” says the lovely bride. “It was very fitting for my personality and wedding style, not to mention it was an exclusive at such a great price!”
“Being the bride was more than I dreamed it would be,” says Jasmine. Her bridal glow was absolutely exquisite.
“I said ‘yes’ because he was not only a wonderful boyfriend, but a genuinely wonderful and admirable person overall,” says Jasmine. “I knew he’d make a great future husband and partner.”
“I’m so happy I said ‘yes’ to the dress,” says Jasmine. “Between the compliments I received on my big day and looking back at my pictures on my wedding day, I know I made the right choice!”
“When deciding on the bridesmaids dresses, I knew I wanted the ladies to wear a floor-length dress in a soft, cashmere, nude color for simplicity,” Jasmine explains. “With five bridesmaids living in four different states, we managed to find the perfect dress for the occasion.”
“Initially I was against ruining our long-lasting friendship to pursue a relationship with him, but now I’m so glad I took that chance,” says Jasmine. “Who knew that I was siting next to my husband in my high school history class.”
The groom and his guys found their dapper digs at Men’s Warehouse. “The groomsmen wore tan suits and white shoes to complement the bridesmaids tan dresses, while the groom stood out dressed in all black,” the bride explains. “Both of us made the decision together.”
“I love the way that she supports and encourages my goals,” says Mark. “Physically, her smile is infectious. No matter how bad my day may be, one look at her smile makes me forget about everything for a moment.”
“A severe snowstorm in the North caused several flight delays and flight cancellations for our wedding guests and family members, so we were really blessed to have our complete bridal party there,” Jasmine shares. “Although several people attended, some friends and family were totally unable to make it to the Florida for the big day.”
“I never really thought about the concept of true love until I realized that I was already in an relationship that was bursting at the seams with genuine love,” Mark admits. “I consider myself lucky for finding true love by having it land on my lap.”
“Jasmine is a beautiful, talented and extremely thoughtful woman,” says Mark. “She is absolutely the type of person that will bring energy and positivity to anyone’s day.”
Jasmine and Mark made sure that all of their guests knew exactly how to share the love (and the photos!) on their big day.
“I walked down the aisle to ‘Falling in Love with Jesus,” says Jasmine. “Our church requested Christian-based songs only, and that song has always been one of my favorite gospel songs. Plus, the ‘falling in love’ part was appropriate for the occasion.” The bride’s father had the pleasure of walking her down the aisle.
“The pastor of my home church, Lonnie D. Wesley, III, acted not only as our officiate, but also supervised our pre-marital counseling well before our wedding date,” Jasmine shares.
“I felt at peace at the altar,” says Mark. “I was aware that I was living a moment that I had been thinking about for a long time. Looking into my wife’s eyes reminded me that I was making the right decision.”
“We chose to have a unity candle in our ceremony to allow our parents to also participate in our wedding ceremony as well,” says Jasmine. “We also did the traditional jumping of the broom.”
The bride and groom were all smiles at the altar and who could blame them? Finding true love and making it to the altar is enough to fill anyone’s heart with joy.
The happy couple’s bridal party stood right by their sides as they officially sealed their union.
“I definitely cried during my turn to recite the vows,” says Jasmine. “Although Mark will never admit it, and will blame it on his nose running, I believe he shed a few discrete tears too.”
“To say it was surreal to describe how I felt looking into his eyes at the altar is an understatement,” says Jasmine. “I felt so incredibly blessed to be marrying my best friend in front of our loved ones, family and friends.”
A family portrait worthy of a gorgeous frame and a permenant spot on the wall in everyone’s home. We love it!
“I’m a huge Beyoncé fan, so the wedding party and bride and groom entered the reception to Beyoncé’s ‘Love on Top,’ says Jasmine. “It seemed so appropriate for a fun reception entrance!”
The couple’s first dance song was John Legend’s “All of Me”, which was actually by request of the groom. “He wanted a song that would represent a new part of our relationship,” Jasmine explains.
“I’m a huge fan of cupcakes, so I chose to do a cupcake tower of 200 individual vanilla flavored cupcakes in buttercream icing in gold wrappers instead of a traditional wedding cake,” says Jasmine. “It added a unique twist to our reception dessert. The groom’s grandmother surprised us with a Jamaican rum cake at the reception too.”
“Edible favors are always great favors, so guests went home with gold boxes of gold wrapped Hershey’s kisses to complement the gold theme of the reception,” Jasmine tells us.
We just love the way Jasmine and Mark look at each other. Don’t you?
Jasmine and Mark showed off their Greek pride at their intimate wedding reception.
“The deejay kept the reception fun and music going for all the wedding guests,” says Jasmine. “The fraternity strolls, soul-train line and dance battles that broke out throughout the night was entertainment in itself.”
“We chose the tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony, so all portraits were taken after the ceremony and before the reception, but majority of the photos were taken at our day-after photo-shoot with the photographer,” says Jasmine. “We put back on all our wedding day attire and did photos at the beach.”
“As cliché as it may sound, my best wedding memory by far for the both of us was looking around the room, seeing all our friends, family and loved ones reunited, and having such a fun time,” Jasmine admits. “We feel like we facilitated the college reunion and family reunion of the year. Since the wedding, our friends have been asking when we are getting married again.”
“I love most his ability to see the positive in every situation, his open-mindedness, humility and his consistent ability to put up with all of me,” says Jasmine.
“Having the wedding in our hometown in Florida instead of our current hometown of New York City was very cost effective,” Jasmine shares. “The wedding planner, ceremony decorator, reception assistants, reception DJ and makeup artist were all either close family friends or church members, which also helped us save money as well.”
