Don’t you love it when a couple finds love in the places most people assume you won’t? We sure do! Newlywed Janel actually met her husband Devonn at a bar after a concert. She and her girlfriends had just spent the day at the Budweiser Superfest in North Carolina and they decided to keep the party going by heading over to a local bar and grill for drinks. Devonn didn’t go to the concert, but he and his friends were hanging out at the very same bar. A mutual friend introduced them and Janel and Devonn hit it off famously and wound up talking all night. She was surprised when he asked to be her Facebook friend instead of asking for her number. But, the next day she laughed when she logged on to Facebook and saw a message waiting for her from Devonn that read: “Can I have your phone number?” Their chemistry was instant. From friends to lovers, their connection was unstoppable.
Count Your Blessings
Devonn was so determined to get Janel’s father’s blessing before he proposed that while she was away on a business trip, he and his future best man drove 10 hours from Atlanta to Washington, D.C. to ask him in person. (Gentleman alert!) She had no idea what he’d been up to while she was away and he played it cool for another month. Then one evening, while they were sharing a romantic moment at home cuddling and watching movies, Devonn surprised her when he suddenly dropped to one knee and asked her that magic question every woman in love wants to hear: “Will you marry me?” Tears of joy streamed down her cheeks as she happily accepted his surprise proposal.
