Being Mary Jane is back with a brand new bag! Sadly, it’s also the show’s final bag. Yes, ladies. One of our favorite love-stricken yet relateable she-roes will be taking her final bow. Based on the series finale trailer, it seems Mary Jane will be stuck between a rock and a hard place – forced to choose between Jason (Michael Ealy) and a new man (played by Morris Chesnut) who both ask for her hand in marriage.
New bae does look quite intriguing, but how does he measure up against all of MJ’s former flames? Let’s take a walk down memory lane and get into all of Mary Jane’s past and present lovers.
Don’t miss the series finale of Being Mary Jane on BET, Tuesday, April 23 at 8 pm ET/PT.
Mary Jane and Andre
Dre, Dre, Dre! This fine as wine and charming lover put it down in the bedroom but was keeping a major secret from MJ – that he had a whole wife and kids! After making the discovery by accidentally stepping on his wedding ring (yes, really!) MJ sent him packing with a water hose to the face. That’s right – let him have it sis!
Lee, The Comedian
Things seemed to be getting pretty serious between MJ and Lee, the comedian with two children living in the U.K. The two were on the verge of moving in together and even spoke about having children, until MJ dropped the bomb that she’d cheated on him with Justin. “You’re obviously still that broken girl I met on the first night,” Lee told MJ before leaving her apartment for good. “It was my mistake trying to put you back together.” Ouch!
Sheldon, The Educated Commitment-Phobe
Sheldon seemed to check all the boxes – educated, handsome and charming. But eventually, MJ grew tired of him keeping her at arms length. Finally, Sheldon reveals that at 50, he has no desire for a live-in girlfriend…let alone marriage and kids.
David, The One That Got Away
Whew! Where do we start with this one. If you recall, MJ and David dated back in college, but broke up as MJ felt his career ambitions were lacking. However, David’s website ended up taking off…and so did he. Their on-and-off relationship came to a halt once MJ learned he was expecting a child with his new girlfriend. Though its clear these two had deep love for each other, they always seemed to hurt one another. Letting go of the relationship ultimately set them both free.
Eddie, The Hookup
Eddie was a chance encounter, representing Mary Jane’s desire for change and trying something new. After getting the stank eye from a black couple while out with Eddie on a date (and a comment he made about a previous Black girlfriend) MJ decided this was heading nowhere fast.
Brandon, The Cutty Buddy
Mary Jane’s strong and sexy friend with benefits Brandon had one purpose – to satisfy her needs in the be. Sadly, she didn’t want it to extend into anything more serious.
