Wonder where Barack Obama lived in his 20s? Before he went to law school, moved to Chicago, married Michelle, and started his political career, a young Obama lived on the top floor of a beautiful brownstone in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The future president moved in shortly after earning his undergraduate degree at Columbia University.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom townhouse, which is now used as a single-family home, is currently on the market for $4.295 million. The home hasn’t been listed since 1994. It was commissioned to be built in 1903 and still retains some historical details, like beautiful woodwork, a Victorian sitting area, four decorative fireplaces, and a double parlor with an original china cabinet. The gourmet eat-in kitchen is renovated with slate and soapstone countertops, custom cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and a small breakfast nook with garden views.

The top floor, where Obama lived, has three bedrooms, a washer and dryer, and a bathroom with an original claw foot tub. The other two rooms are on the third floor with plenty of closet and storage space.

Outside, there’s a beautiful private garden—which is rare for the homes on that block, according to the listing. The garden has bluestone pavers and a vine-covered arbor for outdoor dining or sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine.

The home is listed by Brown Harris Stevens and has open houses on April 30th and May 3rd for any prospective buyers. Take a look at more information here.
