Frederick Anderson Is In His Renaissance Era

Frederick Anderson wants to catch up. Since the launch of his signature wholesale collection in 2018, the designer has faced a global pandemic and significant health issues. After five years of resilience, Renaissance, Anderson’s Fall Winter 2023 collection is a celebration of the past, the present, and the future.

Anderson knows his client. Someone confident, bold, and brave enough to evolve. 

Instead of playing with colorful patterns, as seen in his last Fall Winter show, Anderson harmonizes mismatching fabrics. While his signature hand crochet knits remain on the runway, they’re paired with liquid metallic fabrics, sheer sequins, chiffon, and tweed layers. Together, they flow seamlessly. 

Although the show opens in a moody tone, almost vampy-fatale-like, with dark purple hues and sheer black garments revealing all, the runway’s progression feels reflective of the hardships Anderson endured over the last five years. When the show ends with loud gold lace and embroidered pieces, you can’t help but also feel optimistic about what’s to come next.

A modern renaissance looks a lot like what Anderson outlines for Fall Winter 2023 — daring, unapologetic, and of course, sexy!
