In 2022, many hair enthusiasts are requesting stylists to recreate nostaglic moments that are nonother than other “Fly Girl” era looks, which are making a rapid comeback.
Once were styles our mothers adored, can now be found in our favorite magazines, on TV, and in our favorite music videos – can we take a moment for that iconic WAP video? From a short curly ‘fro and the Halle Berry bob, to finger waves and even crimps – 80s and 90s hairstyles are having a renaissance.
Recently, Lurissa Ingrid and ESSENCE collaborated to create these classic looks with a modern twist for our June/July 2022 issue – on stands now. Together with Myesha Evon Gardner, we captured the true essence (no pun intended) of Black beauty nostalgia, explored fashion through a different lense, and crafted this masterpiece.
Needless to say, the streets are buzzing and salons are reaching for their stove curlers and Let’s Jam hair gel to recreate these looks in the same stunning quality as before.
