Makeup Artist Mali Thomas Joins Bobbi Brown Team In Exciting New Role

By Jennifer Ford · August 13, 2020December 6, 2020
The makeup pro is already sharing a few of her coveted techniques, along with must-have products for your beauty routine.

Today, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics announced that Mali Thomas, creator of the #DewyBrownGirls movement, will join its Global Artist in Residence roster to help the company develop new products and education initiatives.

With 10 years in the makeup game, a fresh modern eye for using color, and creating natural dimension on the face, Mali has the vast industry knowledge to help women create fresh, beautiful makeup looks that enhances their features and not cover them up. And that has been the brand’s mission for 30 years.

” I am super excited to join Bobbi Brown as a new artist in residence,” she says during a Zoom conference with a group of beauty editors. “When I first started my career over 10 years ago, Bobbi Brown was one of the first brands I was able to invest in and add to my kit.” And if you know how important building a kit is to a makeup artist who works with deep skin tones, then you know how special that truly is.

“My brand has always stood for inclusivity and making sure that women of color were celebrated and honored and respected and represented in the beauty space.

“My brand has always stood for inclusivity and making sure that women of color were celebrated and honored and respected and represented in the beauty space,” she says. ” And I just loved the fact that Bobbi Brown has always stood for inclusivity. So this partnership aligns with my brand, that I was able to start over 10 years ago.”

Through the partnership, Thomas says she wants to share her techniques with the world, and she is already schooling us on how to prep our skin. During the Zoom conference, Thomas demonstrated how she uses Bobbi Brown’s new Vitamin Enriched Eye Base ($54) and Face Base ($60) to create the perfect canvas for applying makeup.

“It’s really important to be able to start your makeup routine with the eye base and the face base,” she says. “The under eyes is a delicate area. So you just want to make sure that you’re not using something that’s harsh. And I do feel that this is definitely going to plump and alleviate the signs of small lines, fine lines, and all that stuff.”

“I was introduced to eye creams by my mum at a very young age because I would watch as she applied her all time faves. My takeaway from my mother’s routine is to use what works and keep it simple,” she tells ESSENCE. “Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base speaks to this notion. This product preps all-time and nourishes the under eye. All of which I love.”
