Teyana Taylor is back with another visual directed by her “Spike Tee” alias. The R&B crooner has made a name for herself outside of her banging body and sultry voice by directing her own music videos and visuals for her peers.
Taylor’s new visual “HYWI” featuring King Combs (Christian Combs) is pure ’90s nostalgia. If you’re familiar with any of the hip hop videos in the ’90s, Misa Hylton and Karl Kani were the frontrunners in designing clothes and styling many projects. Teyana being the visionary that she is, tapped both style icons to design looks for her and Christian.
The pair can be seen sporting custom MCM x Misa Hylton looks. Taylor rocked a monogrammed MCM jumpsuit and bikini top while Combs wore a matching MCM set. In another scene, Taylor and Combs are chromed out in their Karl Kani matching sets. Combs dancing around in a puffer while Taylor shows off her washboard abs in a cropped jacket.
That’s not it for the ’90s references. Taylor paid homage to LL Cool J, B.I.G., Toni Braxton, and more. Check out the visual to “HYWI” below.
