We all love a good success story… and when it comes to reality TV, there are plenty of stories that we can relate to, obsess over and compare to our own life goals. But there’s one story in particular that television viewers just can’t seem to get enough of, and that’s the story of Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Shereé Whitfield’s fledgling clothing line.
For the past 10 years, we’ve seen the up’s and down’s of Whitfield’s development of her eponymous clothing label She by Shereé, and since the show’s first airing in 2008, we got an inside view into Whitfield’s love of fashion with her first runway show that aired during season two. Amidst the drama of her first fashion show, Whitfield presented a cohesive collection of ready-to-wear ensembles, but die-hard viewers were quick to point out that nothing was available for sale afterwards… and they’ve had questions ever since.
Finally, this week, Whitfield seemingly quelled the thirst of her fans by announcing that her brand is back and up-and-running, and that customers will be able to place orders for everything that she has to offer. The label is still titled She by Shereé, and her tagline ‘She can. She will. She did’ suggests that Whitfield never gave up on her fashion dreams and that she is here to slay! In the promotional video for her new collection, Whitfield has apparently veered away from the throes of high-fashion and is now offering athleisure (athletic sportswear), for those willing to buy. In her recent Instagram post to promote the brand, Whitfiled simply states, “She’s arrived.”
Black Twitter weighed-in on the announcement of her new clothing line, and the reviews are mixed. Moreover, given that the world has witnessed her passion for fashion for the past 10 years, the takeaway here is that Whitfield has shown that no matter how long it takes, it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.
