“Love this Jean Fares dress!” gushed Emayatzy Corinealdi about the jaw-dropping style she wore to the 44th NAACP Image Awards.
“This [Bird by Juicy Couture] dress had a retro, mod feel that I just loved. It actually inspired the hair and the makeup as well—throwback Twiggy. And it was perfect for the beach. Definitely one of my favorites,” she told ESSENCE.com about the ensemble she wore to the 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards.
“This dress is by Stop Staring,” says Corinealdi of her L.A. Film Festival selection. “I love their things because they have a retro, old world, sexy feel to them. Like a throwback to Eartha Kitt and Dorothy Dandridge. This dress is something my mom would wear. She was always the best dressed person in the room, effortlessly.”
“This dress is by Kevan Hall and, like the plum dress, I love it because it hugs the curves,” she says about her NAACP Image Award selection.
“This dress has a funny story because it was a last-minute change,” recalls the actress of her Governors Awards look. “The dress I was going to wear, the zipper broke right before I walked out the door.”
Inspiration for her Toronto Film Festival look: “I wanted something fun and flirty.”
“I wanted something bold and fun,” says the actress about the Margi Kent dress worn to the 21st Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards.
“Simple and fun,” describes Corinealdi on her Urban World Film Festival frock.
“Cute, simple, and sexy,” says Corinealdi of her dress for the Toronto Film Festival.
“This was for the Gotham awards. I had no idea what to wear. The Ivanka Trump shoes I already had, and I went to a store and just bought this off the rack. Next thing I know, it makes the best-dressed list. That was kinda cool.”
