Day Two’s outfit proved you don’t need a lot of color to make a big statement. My inspiration for this look was a modern take on 1940s casual dressing. I call this look the “quiet storm” because it utilizes unique lines rather than vivid color to create a mood. The skirt and blouse, both vintage pieces, are a contrast of one another. The white blouse evokes a classic menswear feel, while the pleated beige skirt adds a feminine polish — fabulous! I love that this outfit is a combination of mens and womenswear. Mixing it up always gives your look wow factor. An example of this is wearing a big mens style watch with a ladylike pencil skirt and blouse. I added minimal accessories — my favorite owl necklace I got from a street fair, a single bone colored bangle, of course my Jeremy Scott watch, and grey cut out booties from Guess. Today’s bag is one of my faves! It’s by Nyla Noor, a sister design duo, who are also friends of mine. I love this bag because it fits all my staples for a day of running around during fashion week, without looking bulky. It is sleek and sophisticated, a must for any NYC gal. My fedora, a new purchase from the mens section on Forever 21, literally tops off this look! If you are searching for a way to add an edgy touch to an outfit, definitely try a mens hat! Dont let the boys have all the fun. All of my hats are purchased from the mens section of H&M, Forever 21 and vintage shops. I always get so many compliments whenever I wear them. Mens hats are one of my many style secrets I will share with you throughout this week! Overall, I love this look because I feel classy and polished. I like that it is interesting and thought provoking, which is totally my style.
Armed with a fabulous look, I headed to the tents for the Luca Luca, Cynthia Rowley and Academy of Art University shows. I instantly fell in love with Luca Luca’s vibrant dresses, jackets and amazing metallic color block wedges! Cynthia Rowley blew me away with her brilliant use of gold detailing, gorgeous patterns and killer gold cut out, kitten heeled booties! Whew, a fashion mouthful! So fab. I like how the shoes took on a personality of their own. Academy of Art University showcased an array of classic styles for both men and women. Super chic. All in all day two was exactly what I expected it to be — magical. My butterflies of excitement are still in full effect and I can’t wait until day three! Stay tuned.
