Carroll gained generous acclaim for her leading role in the NBC sitcom, Julia. During a time period when black actors played stereotypical characters on tv, Carroll became the first black actress to play a non-offensive role on primetime television. On top of her hustling career, the Tony-Award-winning actress also served glamour and class with every appearance she made.
