“For the Fashion Group International Los Angeles’ ‘Meet The Designer & The Muse’ event, Vanessa and I decided to go with a retro Hollywood Glam vibe,” Hall tells ESSENCE.com. “The gown is a charcoal grey sequined matte jersey with a daring plunging neckline and center twist to accentuate her waistline. I was excited to share the red carpet with her looking incredible as my muse!”
The 43rd NAACP Image Awards Nomination announcement and press conference – Purple/ivory jersey dress, $1200.
“To make an announcement for the 43rd NAACP Award nominations one must look appropriate yet keep a sense of glamour and style. My jersey alabaster and purple v-neck dress delivers a punch!”
The 3rd Annual Thurgood Marshall College Fund FRONT ROW fashion show – Leopard silk taffeta dress, $2200.
“I took a classic surplice style and cut it in a distressed leopard silk taffeta. This silhouette showed off Vanessa’s hourglass figure with its deep V-neckline and tapered skirt,” Hall explains.
The Women Empowering Women in Fashion, Media and Music Gala – Sand silk dress with brown belt, $1600.
“This look was beautiful on Vanessa. I loved the taupe shade of the raw silk and the way the portrait collar frames her beautiful face. She looks great in tailored styles as well as soft, flowing silhouettes.”
The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards – Pink Floral one shoulder gown, $3,900.
“Vanessa has her own amazing innate sense of style. When she was nominated for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Ugly Betty’, she took another daring move by wearing a bold print. The floral print was beautifully draped to go down one side of the gown and border the hem, then accented with a one-shoulder crystal beaded strap,” Hall describes.
60th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards – Celadon diamond taffeta wrap dress, $2000.
“I have a love for vintage silhouettes. This look evoked a 1950’s feeling with its nipped waist and box pleated dirndl skirt. People Magazine included Vanessa in their Best Dressed wearing this dress.”
The 2008 Lincoln Center Spring Gala Honoring Robert Iger – Kiwi silk chiffon gown with beaded neck, $3,500.
“For the Lincoln Center Spring Gala, Vanessa selected my kiwi green silk chiffon gown with beaded necklace. I love Vanessa in green. It’s gorgeous on her skin and complements her beautiful eyes,” says Hall.
The 30th Kennedy Center Honors – Belted green printed silk taffeta bustier gown with serrated ruffle, $3,200.
“Vanessa was chosen to sing a tribute to Diana Ross at the 30th Kennedy Center Honors. I felt this chartreuse printed silk taffeta bustier gown would make a spectacular entrance on the Kennedy Center stage and give a nod to Ms. Ross’s dramatic style,” states Hall.
The 59th Primetime EMMY Awards – Mint feather bustier gown, $10,000.
“I was thrilled to hear that Vanessa was nominated for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Ugly Betty.’ I called to congratulate her and say, ‘I have the dress for you but it will take some courage to wear.’ “It was my pistachio green tulle gown embroidered with crystals and tiny ostrich feathers that ombré to larger feathers at the hem. When she stepped on the carpet, the press and photographers went wild! She was the first to wear feathers on the red carpet and it is my all time favorite look on her!”
A scene from Ugly Betty – Sand linen bustier dress and bolero encrusted with gold beads, $4,000.
“For the ABC hit series Ugly Betty, Vanessa’s character was powerful and sexy. My chic sheath in silk bengaline with matching cropped jacket hit the right note with it’s pearl encrusted bodice and cuff embellishments.”
The 38th Annual NAACP Image Awards Nominations – Blue/green tile sequin sheath, $7800.
“For the 38th NAACP Image Awards nominations announcement, we took the shirtdress to another level by creating it in square tile sequins in shades of blue, celadon, kiwi and aqua. The look is at once modern and sexy!” says Hall.
