No one does style like the Afropunk crowd, and this weekend’s festival continued the tradition of fly fits and regal hair. This past Saturday and Sunday black folks gathered in Brooklyn to celebrate the Afropunk New York stop with their most unapologetic looks.

What makes this gathering so special is the communion of people of color coming together in a space that is built specifically for us. While festivals use black talent to promote sales, we are hardly represented in those spaces. Thanks to festivals like Afropunk we are able to dress how we want, style our hair how we want, and occasionally create moshpits from time to time.

From nipple pasties and platform boots to sheer dresses and African prints, the looks this weekend did nothing but solidify that black people are fashion.
