Twitter's backlash from the premiere of Sorority Sisters was so strong that it prompted companies to pull their ads.
VH1 felt the wrath of Black Twitter on Tuesday after the premiere of Sorority Sisters, a reality show chronicling the lives of nine Atlanta-based members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta and Sigma Gamma Rho sororities.
Many members of the Divine 9 were outraged at how Black Greek life is portrayed in the show. Instead of focusing on service and sisterhood—key beliefs in all of the National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations—the show focuses more on VH1’s signature cattiness and reinforcing stereotypes.
Petitions have been created to have the show cancelled, and many viewers took to Twitter to express their disappointment and embarrassment.

The hashtag #BoycottSororitySisters was started to convince advertisers to pull their ads from the show. So far, several companies, including Carmex, Hallmark, Honda, Domino’s, Crayola and State Farm Insurance have pulled advertisements during the show.
Looks like a victory is on the horizon for Black Twitter.
