Taraji P. Henson Explains The Complexities Of Her Character In 'Proud Mary'

Taraji P. Henson kicks plenty of ass in her new role in Proud Mary.

“Mary, when you first meet her, is a contract killer for hire,” said Henson in an exclusive behind-the-scenes video.

“She was homeless as a child. The streets and the gangs raised her. When she meets Danny [a young boy], she sees her life all over again and she wants out, for the sake of saving herself and this boy.”

Directed by Babak Najafi (London Has Fallen), Henson stars alongside Danny Glover, Margaret Avery and newcomer, Jahi Di’Allo Winston (The New Edition Story).

In real life, Henson recently opened up about romance with former NFL player, Kelvin Hayden.

“I think that it’s important for people to know that I’m happy,” she told ESSENCE. “I’m very very happy. I just am. We’ve been together for two years. And no one would really know that because I don’t blast my info like that but I’m very happy.”
