It’s been a big year for Donald Glover with the success of Atlanta and two Golden Globes under his belt. He even has a role in a currently untitled Star Wars film as young Lando Calrissian. But because of his busy schedule, a few things have been pushed back, and unfortunately, one is our beloved Atlanta.

The second season of the FX hit will now premiere in 2018, but don’t get sad just yet. Although we may have to wait, there could be more from Glover on the horizon. He recently landed an overall deal with FX Productions.

The deal means that Glover will develop new projects for FX’s outlets along with other networks and streaming services. Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, presidents of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, praised Glover and look forward to working on new projects with the actor.

Grad said, “Donald is a remarkable artist, effortlessly shifting from actor to writer, producer, director and musician to create one amazing project after another. Atlanta is just the beginning, the breakout comedy of the year and a series revered as much for its originality as its honest look at the experience of being aspiring, young and black in that legendary city. We’re proud to partner with Donald in an overall deal that will allow him to continue turning his creative vision into incredible television.”

So, while we’re a little bummed that we’ll have to wait until 2018 for a new season of Atlanta, we can’t wait to see what else Glover develops for the network.
