Here’s why we’re adding a shot of espresso to our coffee today:

ABC hit Scandal, Comedy Central’s Key & Peele and Dr. Henry Louis Gates’ PBS series The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross are among the winners for this year’s 76th annual Peabody Awards. The annual honor is given to distinguished radio and television stations, networks, producing organizations and individuals for their public service efforts. A record 46 programs were recognized this year, including Netflix original series’ House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. [LATimes]

Beyoncé may be facing a lawsuit. Reports say that concertgoers Raquel Castellanos and Gabriella Davidson are hitting the singer with a lawsuit after enduring injuries before a performance last December. The alleged victims claim that they were trampled while waiting to get into the general admission section of the show. [Vibe]

Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo and Questlove are said to be making cameos on Michael Jackson’s upcoming album, XSCAPE. One of the project’s contributors, guitarist Jesse Johnson said that the artists will be featured on one song. The album is now available on iTunes for pre-order. [Spin]

Janelle Monae has been named the star of Pepsi’s new “Now Is What You Make It” global 2014 futbol campaign. She is featured in a 90-second spot singing a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes.” “We love David Bowie, and he’s a fan as well, so we wanted to make him proud,” said Monae. The song is available for purchase on iTunes now. [Rollingstone]
