Exhaustion not only saps your energy, but studies have shown it interferes with your enjoyment, cuts your intellectual capacity and leads to weight gain.
This weekend take time to rest your mind, body and spirit. Begin with a warm shower or bath with a fragrant soap or body wash, light an aromatic candle or burn incense. Smell is one of our strongest senses and you can use it to put your mind and body in a relaxed state.
Another way to restore is to sit quietly for ten minutes and breathe deeply. If you like you can chant a word like “aah” or “love.” You will end the session feeling calm and more at peace.
This weekend pick an activity you enjoy and do it. Watch a funny TV show, shop for an hour, play a sport or cook a favorite dish. It will take your mind off everyday issues.
Sleep late or take a 30 minute nap during the day. If you wake up early, just lay in bed for an extra 30 minutes or hour.
Finally, this weekend get eight or nine hours sleep at night. There’s a reason they call it beauty rest. Your mind and body look and feel their best when you give them the time they need to repair and rejuvenate.
