Oscar-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson will finally be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame later this month, according to reports. The actress who has blessed us with some of our favorite roles in movies and TV shows, like Hidden Figures and Empire, is finally being recognized for her contributions on January 28. She will be joined at the ceremony by the likes of Baby Boy director John Singleton and singer-actress Mary J.Blige. “Taraji P Henson is a powerful woman and a powerful actress. She is an entertainer that fans cannot take their eyes off of due to her great acting ability,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk Of Fame. “We welcome her bright star on our Walk Of Fame.” The Empire actress made her screen debut back in 1997 with a cameo appearance on Sister, Sister. But it would be another four years before her breakthrough performance in Singleton’s Baby Boy. An Oscar nomination arose in 2008 for her performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but she still didn’t become a household name in most American homes until she took on the role as Cookie Lyon in Empire. “Even though people are just now finding me as Cookie, thank God for Netflix because people are so moved by my performance they’re like, ‘Where has she been?’” Henson told ESSENCE Magazine in the November 2015 cover story. “I’ve always said I want to do the type of work that people study.” The Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony will take place just before the release on February 9 of her next flick What Men Want, a remake of Mel Gibson’s What Women Want. Congrats Taraji! TOPICS:
