According to CNN, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that Congress didn’t have the authority to require all Americans to have health care, however portions of the Constitution did. In essence, today’s ruling means that all Americans from top to bottom will be required to have health insurance.
President Obama spoke to supporters in Atlanta yesterday, saying: “They understand we don’t need to re-fight this battle over health care. It’s not the right thing to do that we’ve got three million young people who are on their parents health insurance plans that didn’t have it before. It’s the right thing to do to give seniors discounts on their prescription drugs. It’s the right thing to do to give 30 millions Americans health insurance that didn’t have it before.”
