Where Was Sasha? Why She Missed Obama's Farewell Speech

Sasha Obama was notably missing from her dad's farewell speech. See some of the hilarious excuses people made for her absence on social media.

Taking a break from our sniffles and tears as President Obama gave his farewell speech last night in Chicago, we all noticed there was one piece missing from the family: youngest daughter Sasha Obama. 

During the final speech of his tenure, Obama gave special mention to First Lady Michelle and noted how both daughters, Sasha and Malia, “wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily.”

Before an official statement was made, it stirred a whirlwind of mystery on social media as people tried to figure out why the 15-year-old wasn’t present. Here are some of our favorites:

Following the farewell, White House officials told reporters that the President’s daughter stayed in Washington, D.C. for a school exam.

On the bright side, she might have saved us an extra box of tissues, as watching Michelle and Malia tear up in the crowd was emotional enough.
