Rihanna is definitely having a moment.

And just like the many moments she’s had before, fans can’t seem to get enough of her. It seems that the underlying question on everyone’s mind is “who is Rihanna?”

In a recent interview with T Magazine, Rihanna gave fans a taste of what it’s really like to be her, or more specifically, a young Black woman in the entertainment industry.

When asked if she felt race in a different way when she moved to New York, she said the distinction most often comes up when it comes to business.

‘‘You know, when I started to experience the difference—or even have my race be highlighted—it was mostly when I would do business deals.’’ said Rihanna. “Business deals. Meaning that everyone’s cool with a young Black woman singing, dancing, partying and looking hot, but that when it comes time to negotiate, to broker a deal, she is suddenly made aware of her Blackness.”

She also noted that her experiences when it comes to being a business woman haven’t changed but are what drive her to do better.

‘‘And, you know, that never ends, by the way. It’s still a thing. And it’s the thing that makes me want to prove people wrong. It almost excites me; I know what they’re expecting and I can’t wait to show them that I’m here to exceed those expectations.’’

Rihanna’s upcoming album is titled ANTI  is set to debut in 2015.
